An impressive group of daytime stars have joined forces for a special event to benefit the victims of the devastating wildfires ravaging the Los Angeles area. Co-hosted by General Hospital’s Josh Kelly (Cody) and Bradford Anderson (Spinelli), “Daytime Makes A Difference” will be a Zoom streaming event on Sunday, Jan. 19.

Kelly shared with Soap Opera Digest that he came up with the idea for the fundraiser during the early days of the fires. Feeling a call to give back to those impacted by the crisis, he began brainstorming with his girlfriend, Chloe Lanier (ex-Nelle), on how they could help. “I came up with, ‘Well, what if we did some sort of charity Zoom thing?’” he recalled, which led Lanier to suggest bringing in Coastal Entertainment owner Linda Rohe, who runs Zooms and in-person fan events. “I contacted her, and she was in.”

Rohe got Kelly’s GH co-star, Anderson, to sign on as co-host shortly afterward, and then the group set out to see which daytime colleagues were willing to participate. “I think a lot of people were feeling the same way, like they wanted to do something to help,” Kelly shared. “Very easily, everyone said, ‘Of course I’ll do it!’”

“Fans will be able to submit questions for the stars in the chat, and then Bradford and I will ask those questions,” explained Kelly of the event, which is expected to last about two hours. “People will tell stories, and we’re going to try to keep it very upbeat and fun.”

The proceeds will be split among World Central Kitchen, the Pasadena Humane Society, and the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation — three organizations that have been in the trenches, assisting people and animals impacted by the fires. If you are unable to join the live Zoom on Sunday (set to begin at 3:30 p.m. EST with the “doors” opening an hour prior) but still want to support the worthy cause, you can buy a ticket and be emailed a link to watch a recording which will be available for 14 days.
