At long last, the General Hospital Nurses Ball is coming back! The soap took the occasion of its 62nd anniversary on April 1 to announce the good news that the 2025 Nurses Ball will be kicking off on Tuesday, May 20!

“I am so excited,” Lynn Herring (Lucy) shared in an Instagram video. “2025, guess what? You’re gonna love something old and something new. A big surprise for you! I just made a poem! Guess what? The Nurses Ball is back! Come play with us, come watch us, come enjoy, just be with us… celebrate everything General Hospital. Nurses Ball 2025.”

The General Hospital Nurses Ball was established back in 1994 as a fundraising event to raise awareness and money for HIV and AIDS research. Many Port Charles residents take to the stage to perform, and the event is usually hosted by Lucy Coe. The 1996 Nurses Ball was an especially powerful one because Robin Scorpio announced that she was HIV positive following the death of her boyfriend, Stone Cates.

GH held the Nurses Ball annually until 2001, and fans were delighted when it finally returned to their screens in 2013. In 2020, the ball was turned into a telethon to support front-line workers during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, there was mention of the Nurses Ball being held in the fall but it never came to pass. The last GH Nurses Ball was held in April 2023. Although the ball was mentioned in 2024, viewers never saw one take place on screen.

Learning that the Nurses Ball is returning is quite the wonderful anniversary present for GH to give its fans, and we can’t wait until May to see what the soap has up its sleeve! Keep checking back here at SoapsInDepth.com for more updates as the date gets nearer!
